THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT THE MET GALA
It is an annual event where art, meets fashion in a creative and unique display of haute couture (High Fashion).
The MET GALA being an annual high-fashion "FUNDRAISING" event, that benefits the METROPOLITAN MUSEUM OF ART COSTUME INSTITUTE in Manhattan , NEW YORK CITY.
It is known as the "BIGGEST FASHION NIGHT," standing as the pinnacle of prestige and glamour in the fashion world.
The late Eleanor Lambert (1903 - 2003), an American Fashion publicist, founded the event in 1946 and with the first major gala in 1948 setting the stage for decades of iconic fashion.
The event is currently organized by VOGUE, a leading fashion and lifestyle magazine.
Since 1995, the event has been under the expert chairmanship of Dame Anna Wintour ,VOGUE'S Editor -In- Chief Since 1988. Except for 1996, where Liz Tilberis who succeeded her, took the reins.
Anna Wintour has curated themes that challenge designers to push the boundaries of creativity.
Invitation to the Met Gala is HIGHLY EXCLUSIVE, reserved for society's most influential figures across industries like;
Film, Fashion, TV, Music, Theater, Business, Sports, Social Media, and Politics.
Celebrities ascend the iconic RED CARPET STAIRCASE, displaying their unique interpretations of the annual theme, as journalists and photographers capture every moment.
Held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.
The Met Gala takes place on the first Monday in the month of May, marking the grand opening of the Costume Institute's annual fashion exhibit.
The most recent event was held on May 6th, 2024, with the next one anticipated to be scheduled for the month of may in 2025.
